Much of what we know about goldenrod’s medicinal uses comes from Native American peoples, who traditionally use various goldenrod species for a number of ailments, both topically and internally.

Internally, goldenrod is used for urinary, respiratory, and digestive ailments. A premier decongestant, goldenrod effectively alleviates upper respiratory congestion stemming from allergies, sinusitis, flu, or the common cold.

We find that it quickly dries up a runny nose with one dose, especially for those who are affected by colder temps or are allergy-prone.

The diuretic quality of goldenrod may also help to relieve edema, gout, and kidney stones and works wonderfully with our Kidney Health Tea for UTI's (Urinary Tract Infections) along with our Usnea Natural Antibiotic tincture.

As a digestive remedy: many species of goldenrod have been used to quell diarrhea - likely because of their tannins and antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory actions. Solidago species are typically bitter, warming, and pungent, which makes them useful carminative herbs for stimulating and improving digestion.

Drug Interactions: diuretics (increased potassium loss), drugs excreted by kidneys due to diuretic action, lithium (raises levels)
