Lemon Verbena, Marshmallow Root Rose Petals, Rose Hips, and Milky Oats were already growing in and around our medicinal gardens here in Black Mountain, North Carolina. We harvested each of them by hand - starting with our Fresh Milky Oats on Summer Solstice, the way I was taught.

Now, at the Autumn Equinox, I'm bringing these garden treasures together in a beautiful herbal tea blend. Traditionally cherished for their calming, soothing, and comforting qualities, they create a lovely cup with citrus, floral, and earthy herbal notes. I've kept the herbs loose and recognizable, never powdered, so you can see the beautiful plant material you're brewing.

One generous tablespoon makes up to three cups of tea!

I am including 3 Eco-Fil tea filter bags with each pouch. They're biodegradable, compostable, unbleached, free of glue and plastics, and have a convenient drawstring design.

When your tea is finished, you can return the spent herbs to your compost, completing the circle. From seed to soil, garden to cup, and cup back to earth—the gentle cycle carries on.

The aerial tops include the tender upper stems, leaves, and flowers—the parts traditionally considered richest in Motherwort's beneficial constituents. By harvesting at the height of flowering, we capture the plant when many herbalists believe its vitality and phytochemical profile are at their peak.

Because the herb is tinctured immediately after harvest, there's no drying process that may reduce or alter some of the plant's naturally occurring volatile compounds and delicate constituents. The fresh plant retains its natural moisture and vibrant chemistry, resulting in what many herbalists consider a fuller-spectrum extract.

Fresh Motherwort is also much more labor-intensive to produce. It must be harvested at just the right stage, processed promptly, and cannot simply be stored on a shelf like dried herbs. That's one reason fresh plant tinctures are often considered a premium herbal preparation.

For centuries, Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) has been revered as one of the most cherished herbs for women. Traditionally, it has been used to:

Crafted with our nourishing tallow soap recipe, this bar produces a rich, creamy lather that gently cleanses without stripping the skin's natural moisture.
