Also known as Big Mama, our St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is freshly harvested in our Blue Ridge Mountains. Relieves inflammatory pain, anxiety and mild depression, and speeds wound healing when used topically. May also improve capillary circulation, increase cardiac circulation, and ease gastrointestinal distress.
Contraindications:
prior to surgery (prolongs effect of anesthesia)
Drug Interactions:
5-aminolevulinic acid, amitriptyline, cyclosporine, digoxin, indinavir, midazolam, nefazodone, nevirapine, oral contraceptives, paroxetine, phenprocoumon, saquinavir, sertraline, simvastatin, tacrolimus, trazodone, theophylline, warfarin, photosensitizing agents (reduces plasma levels of meds metabolized via cytochrome P pathways, increases activity of P-glycoprotein, synergistic serotonin uptake inhibition, may potentiate photosensitization, decreased theophylline levels, reduces efficacy of oral contraceptives)
1 dropperful equals 15-20 drops Blue Ridge St. John's Wort (hypericum perforatum) in Grain Alcohol, Water and Kosher Glycerine.
Suggested use: take 1 full dropper under tongue or in 1 ounce water/juice, 2-5 times daily, or as needed.
As with many anti-inflammatory pharmaceuticals, St. John’s Wort taken internally will cause photo-sensitivity and photo-dermatitis in people with fair or sensitive skin. Sunlight activates the hypericin in St. John's Wort which can cause skin blistering and peeling if you are exposed to direct sunlight for a prolonged amount of time while taking this plant tincture.
Do not use this plant tincture if you are taking any prescribed anti-depressant medication, pregnant or lactating.
