Unlike chemical sunscreens that absorb UV rays, Zinc Oxide Sunblock SPF 30 is a physical blocker that reflects the sun's UV rays and keeps them from reaching your skin. 

Zinc oxide is a highly stable, naturally occurring mineral that doesn't significantly dissolve in water, break down in sunlight, or react with the skin. It also has antibacterial and astringent properties. You'll find zinc oxide in some diaper rash creams and deodorants (including some of ours). We use "non-nano" zinc oxide because the particles aren't small enough to penetrate the skin, which is considered safer for the body. 

If all that weren't enough, mineral sunblocks are environmentally safe! Coral reefs and marine animals have long been harmed by many of the ingredients in chemical sunscreens - ingredients which are not present in mineral formulas. 

You can use a non-nano zinc oxide sunblock every day, whether the sun is shining or not. There is no downside to doing so. In fact, regular use will effectively protect your skin from various types of sun damage including skin cancer, uneven skin tone, and premature aging.
